3-step strategy to prepare a salary negotiation and ask for the pay that truly reflects your value

Negotiating a pay rise can be daunting, even at the best of times. During a recession, it can become even harder. You don't want to seem greedy, insensitive or ungrateful, and at the same time, you want to advocate for yourself, be fairly compensated for your work and make progress to your vision of what living life on your terms means to you. If you're not happy with your current salary, you have 4 choices:

1) Not do anything and continue to be unhappy and resentful, appreciating the impact of both on your performance, relationships, self-worth etc.

2) Take control and ask for what you're worth

3) Make peace with putting a salary negotiation on hold for now and any consequences of that choice

4) Find other ways of building wealth/generating income (e.g. investing, property rental, building an online course).

There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to negotiating a raise. But, as the old saying goes, “If you don’t ask, you don’t get.”

So – should you ask for a salary increase during an economic downturn? If yes, is there a better time to ask than not? And if so, how should you do it? Read my blog here. BTW negotiating is as well part of the program MOVE UP!

It is wrong when your thoughts about yourself impact your career success – overcome your limiting beliefs

Are limiting beliefs holding you back? I know that they have with my clients, and they certainly have with me. The thing is they can be changed SO quickly, yet we just drag them around with us everywhere we go, and they stop us from achieving all we set out to achieve.

From an early age, we are shaped by the thought patterns of other people.

Many of these beliefs have never helped us, but apparently have not harmed us either. But in adulthood at the latest, they are no longer beneficial in any way, but rather hindering or even harmful, because under stress and pressure they drive us even further and make us doubt ourselves.

The Belief Set Detector shows you in three steps how to dissolve old thought patterns and transform them into new constructive beliefs. Read more in the blog and get your workbook to identify your limiting beliefs.

5 Steps to use role models to facilitate career goals achievement

Male and female role models play a crucial role in bringing more women into leadership positions.

Gender stereotypes and gender-typical role expectations of women (and men) continue to be commonplace in all organizations.

The right role models can help women to achieve their goals.

Generally, there are two types of role models: positive role models, who serve as examples of what we "should" do, and negative role models, who serve as examples of things we "shouldn't" do.

As a career coach, I can help you find the role model that inspires and motivates you to achieve your personal career goal. Let´s keep in mind: The best role model is the one who has already achieved the goal you have in mind. For example your goal could be that you want to be able to present your projects in an interesting and lively way so that others can see what you have achieved. My tried and proven 5-step approach is in the blog.
